Apple Music family sharing not working

I sent the invitation to my husband to share my apple music subscription. He accepted the invite, and it still asks him to sign up for a subscription even though it shows under his settings, subscriptions that I am sharing apple music. What gives?

Hey georgia30,

We'd be happy to help out. Sounds like you've already got things set up in terms of the Apple Music Family subscription. To verify do you also have the Family Sharing group also set up?

If so, did he also accept the Family Sharing invitation?

First, set up Family Sharing
Set up Family Sharing on your device. Then invite family members to join your family group.

If you already set up Family Sharing, everyone in your family group will automatically have access to Apple Music after you subscribe.

If he goes to Settings > Music on his iPhone, is he able to enable Sync Library? That is an Apple Music subscription feature. Use Sync Library to access your music library across your devices - Apple Support

If still an issue, we'd advise to contact Apple Support to further assist.

I had the same issue with adding my dad (inviting him and adding were successful, but he could NOT access any of the family sharing music), BUT after searching the internet for hours, I just found the answer on Reddit and this solution seems to work for a lot of the people who posted on it.

Do not have your husband sign up for his own trial or individual subscription.

If you see him in your family sharing, then from your iPhone, go to “Media & Purchases” under Settings (from Setting, clicking your photo/your name - the 1st line in Settings). After clicking on “Media & Purchases”, a menu will pop up. Click on RED “Sign Out.” You may have to try to sign out a few times. Then sign immediately back in using your Apple ID login and password.

Doing this will reset your connection to the subscriptions and recognize your husband’s acceptance to your invitation to Apple Music Family Sharing!

Also, FYI, per Apple Policy, you have to be in the SAME REGION as your family member or friend you are inviting to Family Sharing. BUT you do not need to live in the same household.

I hope this helps!
