my Canon MG3600 scanner quit working. the printer still works

My Canon MG3600 scanner cannot be read by my MacBook Pro. The printer portion still works

The following models in the Canon MG3600 series are listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support. Is your printer one of these models? Are you using the driverless AirPrint technology for printing?

  • Canon MG3640
  • Canon MG3650
  • Canon MG3660
  • Canon MG3670
  • Canon MG3680

For scanning, it should be possible to use Apple's Image Capture (but a driver may be needed). Just as an example, the MG3650 has an ICA driver for macOS 12 Monterey (but not, for some reason, macOS 13 Ventura):

(a CUPS printer driver is available for macOS 13 Ventura).
