text box appears when note taking with Apple pencil in Apple notes

While I am in the middle of note taking with the Apple pencil. The notes go from being converted to typed notes in the notepad to a text box without me creating text box. This is a new issue in the past couple days. I notice a new arrow with a line too.

Is there anyway to make this stop?

Thanks!

I'm also having this issue, it appeared after the last update. When I reach the end of the line I used to be able to write anywhere on the screen and the text would just continue with the next line. Now I have to fit the word into the remaining space between the end of the line and the edge of the screen. If I write it a bit lower a text box is created instead. This seems to happen only in the Apple notes app.

Hello s_moagp,

Let's use the steps below to make sure that your iPad is all up to date:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If your iPad is all up to date, let's restart using the steps applicable for your specific model: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

How to restart an iPad without a Home button
1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

Updating and restarting can sometimes help address odd behaviors.

Should that still persist, do you experience the same behavior with any other apps?
