WiFi calling disconnects

My iPhone SE 2nd generation frequently disconnects from Wi-Fi calling, even though the device is connected to the WiFi with a strong signal. This seems to happen at times when there is no cellular connection to Verizon. I saw a suggestion to fix this problem by resetting the phone, but I’m worried that may cause more problems. Please advise.
