iPad locked up after installing 16.2 update

My iPad is locked up after installing the 16.2 iOS update. I have the box “Software Update your iPad has been updated to iPadOS 16.2” with an opportunity to click “OK”.

clicking “OK” does nothing. My login keypad shows underneath the message box but is not available to get to.

I tried totally shutting down my iPad but the “slide to power off” box appears but does not work either. The “software update” box still appears on the same screen with the “power off “ box.

how can this be fixed so I can access my iPad?

A forced-restart should clear the problem:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
