Turn off Mail Notifications on Apple Watch

I recently bought the Apple Watch series 8 and was struggling with getting it to turn off my gmail notifications. You would think selecting “Notifications Off” on the mail icon would do it.

You would be wrong.

In order to turn off the notifications you actually have to select “Custom” then “Send to Notification Center” and THEN you can go into your gmail to turn it off.
