Migrate data from Mac 2011 to Mac 2022

I'm trying to migrate the data from my Mac 2011 to my new Mac 2022. I was hoping to connect the two via thunderbolt connections. I did some searching and determined that the old Mac is a Thunderbolt 1 and the new one is a Thunderbolt 4. I purchased a Thunderbolt cable that is a 4 on both ends and that should have worked but the port on the 2011 is a different size. How can I accomplish this? Do they make cords that are a 1 on one side and a 4 on the other? My head is spinning from trying to figure it out. Thank you!

The fastest, easiest and most reliable way to Migrate to a new iMac, is to plug your old iMac's Time Machine backup driver into the new iMac and Migrate from it. The only heads-up, is that you may need a USB-C to USB-A adapter to connect the backup drive to the new iMac.

Using a Mac to Mac Ethernet connection is the second best option, but it is slow and you may need a USB-C to Ethernet adapter to make that connection with a new Ethernet-less iMac.

Do not use WI-FI to Migrate over your local network, as it is really really slow and highly prone to fail.

A Thunderbolt connection will only allow you to move files after the initial setup.
