How To Transfer a Song Between Playlists?

I decided to rearrange my newly-created playlists in Music. I want to transfer songs from one playlist to another. That seems easy enough. The question is: Once I have transferred the songs to the new playlist, how can I delete the old playlist (along with the songs that are in that playlist) without deleting all of those songs that I transferred to the new playlist?

Thank you so much.

Hi kitjv,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

You can safely delete a song from one playlist and it will stay in your library. This page of the larger Apple Music User Guide will help explain further: Create, edit, and delete playlists in Music on Mac

"Remove an item: Select the item and press the Delete key.

If the deleted song is already in your library, removing it from a playlist doesn’t remove it from your library or storage device."

Have a fantastic day!

MichaelB2019: Thank you for the response. The information you provided makes sense. However, my situation is a bit different. Since I am using Music on a trial basis, I opted add songs to my playlists, but not to my Library. At this point, I didn't want to co-mingle the purchased songs in my Library with the Music songs I added to my playlists.

So there doesn't seem to be way to delete a song in one playlist without that same song being automatically deleted in another playlist. However, a workaround would be to delete the song, then add it back into the playlist where I want it.

Again, thanks for the response.
