Homekit admin rights issue

Ever since the 16.2 upgrade and the new architecture, I am experiencing persisting issues with admin rights in HomeKit.

I am a resident admin of my home. Yet whenever I try and change an automation, HomeKit won’t let me claiming I need to be an admin.

Going into the resident owners profile and toggling the switch that enables admin rights on and off temporarily fixes this issue - by temporarily I mean maybe it‘ll works for an hour - but after that it fails back to above behavior. Leaving and rejoining the home also doesn’t help.

any suggestions?

Hello Tabea2K,

You've walked through great steps to help isolate the issue you're having with HomeKit. Since toggling that setting off and on helps provide a temporarily resolution, let's continue by troubleshooting the Home app itself by following the steps listed below. These steps can also be found outlined in the following article. While the title of the article references a different issue, these steps are still relevant.

  1. "Force the app to close."
  2. "Restart your iPhone."
  3. "To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad."
  4. "Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed."
