iTunes in the cloud question

Hello dear Apple community! I need some info.

To the old school Mac users among you: Was it ever possible with iTunes to sync non-purchased/self-imported media (movies, video, Tv shows, podcast, etc.) with the cloud to other devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.)?

Except for music, where it was/is possible with the iCloud music library.

Or were the only options to sync the iPhone or iPad with the computer via cable or to enable home sharing?

I look forward to the answers!

Kind regards, Tobias.

Sorry for my bad englisch, i try my best ;-)

iCloud Music Library is a feature of the Apple Music and iTunes Match services, and has only ever worked with music. Your unhidden purchases should be available across all compatible devices where you are signed into your Apple ID. All other content needs to be synced via USB or Wi-Fi, and manually copied from one computer or library to another.

Thanks for the answer, so I got it right. You know very well, so I have one last question from a friend. He has an old MacBook which I think is still running "Snow Leopard" or "Lion".

He would like to add photos to iTunes to have them stored there, just like you can do with music and videos. Was this ever possible?

Or should he take iPhoto for this, because this was never possible in iTunes?

It's not about syncing. He just wants to know if it was ever possible to add photos to iTunes to have them stored there, just like you can do with music and videos. But when you say that there was never a photo section within the iTunes library itself, that means it was never possible, did I understand that correctly?

And thanks for your quick answers always, you have really helped me a lot already! :-)
