Contacts Owned by Outdated Email Address

For my contacts, my default address has been set for an email address that I would like to now delete. Can I switch "ownership" of my existing contacts so I do not lose them? Thanks

Hey there caitlinren,

If your contacts are associated with an email service provider that you use with your iPhone, you can merge those contacts with iCloud by simply turning on iCloud Contacts. Check out those steps here:

Set up and use iCloud Contacts - Apple Support

Set up iCloud Contacts
When you turn on iCloud Contacts, all of the information* stored on separate devices uploads to iCloud. If you turn off iCloud Contacts, your information won't automatically move from iCloud back to your device.

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
1. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
2. Turn on Contacts.
3. When you're asked if you want to Merge or Cancel, tap Merge.

All of the information stored in Contacts uploads to iCloud.

Alternatively, your email service provider may have a method for exporting the contacts online via their website. You could then import the contacts file into iCloud to use them with iCloud Contacts: Import or export a vCard in Contacts on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Kind regards.
