I can't hear myself through my AirPods

I cannot hear myself through my airpods. The caller to whom I am speaking is very clear, but I cannot hear myself speaking like I would if using the phone. It is not because I have noise cancelation turned on. I've read other users' comments who have the same problem.

Hello JCKid,

We understand you cannot hear yourself on phone calls while using AirPods, and after adjusting the Noise Cancellation settings the results are the same.

You didn't mention which AirPods you are using. If you have AirPods Pro, did you give the Ear Tip Fit Test a try? Choose your AirPods Pro ear tips and use the Ear Tip Fit Test - Apple Support

If you have the AirPods Pro (2nd generation), there is another feature to check.

Use Adaptive Transparency with AirPods Pro (2nd generation)
With AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can turn on Adaptive Transparency to reduce loud sounds in your surrounding environment.
1. Wear both of your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
2. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings , tap the name of your AirPods near the top of the screen, then turn on Adaptive Transparency.

Switch between Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode - Apple Support
