iPhone Calendar events disappearing

I have an iPhone 12, iOS 16.1.2. I’ve been noticing for a few months now, can’t say when exactly maybe 3 or 4 months, that some events are disappearing from the calendar. I checked the calendar setup under settings, the default calendar just says “Calendar” it’s local and it’s not associated to any external calendar so there’s never been any synching required.

Any ideas? It’s becoming very annoying because I rely on my calendar a lot.

Hi Ma1kavian,

You mentioned that this is happening on iOS 16.2.1, is that correct? The latest iOS is currently iOS 16.2. software updates contain several bug fixes and security updates needed for the functionality of your device. Also, iOS app such as the calendar update when the software is updated. We'd recommend updating to the latest and then confirm this continues to occur.

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. Tap Install Now

Have a good one!

Hello Ma1kavian,

You might have the sync set to a specific time.

You can check under:

1. Settings

2. Calendar

3. Sync

If it is set at "Events 1 Month Back" then events older than that would delete. You can adjust accordingly.

Also, even though your default calendar is local, your events may be syncing with another calendar. If you look at you calendar view, do you see ay calendars that are turned off? This could be another reason for future or past events missing.

This resource may help with the issue as well: Keep track of events in Calendar on iPhone – Apple Support

We hope this help.

Hi, thanks for trying To help.

so no, the settings synch time just says all events, and the problem is about events in the future, maybe there are issues with events in the past i don’t know, I don’t normally check that but I do notice the ones in the future, so far I’ve noticed 4 or 5 of them disappearing.

also for the other calendars I checked as you suggested and there’s only the calendar and workout under “on my iPhone” and on “other” it just has Canadian holidays subscription, birthdays and Siri suggestions.

many other thing I can check or is this a bug on the calendar?
