Hey DavidMcIvor,
A managed network could be coming from an installed profile on your iPad, a private network you've connected to, and even networks such as at a hotel or coffee shop. When you see it in your Settings app, does it appear as a network you've connected to before or just an available network that you can connect to?
In the meantime, here's a bit of information about private Wi-Fi addresses that might help: Use private Wi-Fi addresses on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support
Also check for an installed profile that is similar to the name of the network. To check, tap Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Here's additional information on that too: Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone - Apple Support
Keep us posted.
Take care!
