Have you tried scanning with Apple's Image Capture application? If that does not work, then you will be dependent upon your scanner vendor providing Ventura-compatible scanner drivers, and if not even that, then you may have to resort to a paid VueScan Professional solution provided it can support your scanner without vendor drivers.
You should mention your multi-function/scanner vendor and full model/product number here for additional help.

THANKS FOR YOUR INFO. YES, THE PRINTER IS AN HP ENVY PHOTO 7855. THE IMAC USE TO HAVE A SCAN COMMAND IN SYSTEM PREFERENCES. IT WAS A GOOD COMMAND.I THOT THE UPDATE WOULD STILL BE AVAILABLE. ANY FURTHER SUGGESTIONS?
Technically Scanning from a Printer is not possible unless this might be a combo Scanner / Printer ( all in One)
YOU DOWNLOAD THE APPROPRIATE ICA DRIVER FOR YOUR SCANNER. ALSO, YOU CAN’T SCAN FROM A PRINTER. YOU CAN SCAN FROM THE SCANNER SIDE OF AN “ALL-IN-ONE”DEVICE.
Have you tried Preview?
Just for the record, my Envy works just fine with Preview. on my 24" iMac with an M1 with Ventura. Launch Preview and the Envy should show up in the File Menu

MY PROBLEM WAS HAT I DID'T SCROLL DOWN ENUF. I HAVE FOUND THE PRINTER/SCANNER COMMANDS AND I AM HAPPY. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS.
