I have an older ipad that won't update to 16, and I don't need it to. I only use it in the kitchen. However, it now will not accept my apple id password because it cannot update to 16. How do I use it?

What is it that you're trying to connect to?
Please tell us which iPad you have and which version of iOS you're running. You can find the version in Settings > General > About, listed under Version.
You might be getting prompted to sign in for updating or using an app that is no longer supported, and you'll need to remove that app if it isn't supported on your older version of iOS.

You should not have to update your device to sign in with your Apple ID. Those are two different functions on the iPad. Try resetting your Apple ID password which may help with your signing in: If you forgot your Apple ID password.
