Why is the “ Low AirTag battery notification “ useless?
I recently received a home-screen notification on my iPad 5th gen running iOS 15.7 from the “Find My” app stating (approx.) that “Your AirTag battery is low”. I clicked on this notification and it took me to this screen in the “Find My” app.
The red notification icon next to “Me” takes me to this screen, which is about location sharing. There’s no info about battery status.
I then click on “People”, “Devices” and “Items” and again, no info. anywhere about battery status.
This appears to be a “broken-link” type of error within the “Find My” app.. Again, the notification takes me to “Find My” app screens that show no information about the AirTag’s battery status. This jeopardizes the entire functionality of AirTags and unless there is a quick fix to this error, I’ll will be returning all of my AirTag’s.
I’m sure there’s “a process” that someone will explain to access battery status data for AirTags but that doesn’t explain why an Apple App notification takes me nowhere helpful. This problem inspires no confidence that my AirTags are going to be useful but does inspire confidence that my Airtag’s batteries will be depleted one by one without recourse. It appears that this notification process needs a fix. A “How to Determine an AirTag’s battery status” help page would be useful for those willing to risk losing the items that their AirTags are attached to.
