Gift Card in Apple Wallet

I have an Apple Gift card that I redeemed from my credit card company. The gift card was added to my wallet. I have purchased books, app and music since adding the gift card but am still being charged on my normal card instead of using the gift card. The values of these different purchases have been below by gift card amount. If the gift card shows in my wallet, what else do I need to do to get it to be used in my purchases?

See -> Add a payment method to your Apple ID : Add a payment method to your Apple ID – Apple Support (UK)

if you use your Apple ID balance, you need to set your Apple ID balance as your default payment.

If you update your payment method or add funds to your Apple ID balance, It would take about 1 to 3 business days in order to process.

If you're still unable to update your payment method, Contact Apple Support.
