Macbook screen turns black during Zoom meetings

Anyone has similar problem and managed to resolve the problem? My MacBook Pro screen will start to flicker after about 1 hour whenever I'm having a virtual meeting and then the screen will just black out but I can still hear what is going on in the meeting yet can't see a thing on my screen. In order to revive the black out screen, I need to close my laptop, reopen it and then rejoin the virtual meeting. It can happen several times throughout any virtual meeting on Zoom or while watching live videos on Instagram.

Hello Ramdrei,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. First, we suggest resetting the NVRAM, as this can help with most display issues. Follow the steps from the Apple Support article: Reset NVRAM on your Mac

1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac, then immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, R.
3. Release the keys after about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart. For example, you might hear a startup sound more than once, or see the Apple logo more than once.
4. When your Mac finishes starting up, you might need to adjust any system settings that were reset.

Also, to rule out any issues that may be related to a specific app or software, we suggest booting the set in safe mode. The guidance needed is found here: Start up your Mac in safe mode

Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
2. Log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again.
4. On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed.

Have a great day!
