Iphone X touch screen becomes unresponsive sporadically

Hi!

My Phone's screen recently has started becoming unresponsive to touch whenever I try to unlock it. I thought it was a hardware problem, and i still may be but it only seems to happen when my phone goes asleep, and upon force restarting it a number of times using the side buttons the problem goes away.

Today I even went as far as backing up my phone on iCloud, and then wiping it and reinstalling from the backup, but the problem has persisted.

Does this seem like a hardware or software problem?

Hi Dapstart,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you're having an issue with your iPhone becoming unresponsive to touch when trying to unlock it.

We're happy to assist.

We recommend checking out the steps in the section titled "If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch" from the article here: If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad

1) Restart your iPhone or iPad.
2) Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
3) Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
4) Remove any cases or screen protectors.

We’re recommending the steps above because they directly address the issue you initially posted about: you're having a problem with your iPhone becoming unresponsive to touch when trying to unlock it.

Please let us know the outcome after giving the above steps a try.

Cheers!
