MAC OS 12.6.1 with Epson XP-7100 no longer prints double sided 2022 - iMac M1 24"

I have not upgraded the OS recently and I used to get double sided printing as an option. Sometime in the last few weeks/month? I noticed selecting "2-sided" in the print dialog box no longer works. I have tried deleting and adding the printer back in in "Settings", re-started the computer and the printer all to no avail. I am confused when others have said there are no more printer drivers rather use AirPrint!?

I'm answering my own question. I just read the following in a URL which I cannot remember:

  1. Select "File/Print" for whatever document you wish
  2. On the printer settings page first select/specify "paper size", then select/specify "paper type", then select "2-sided", then hit the "Print" button.

Magically that worked....!?
