Battery optimization using a 16" M1 Maxmacbook hooked up to a 2022, 27" Apple Studio Display

Does anyone have experience solving battery optimization issues when using a 2022 16" Macbook M1 Max plugged into a new 2022, Apple 27" Studio display. Battery optimization works perfectly when connected to the apple ac adapter. When connected to the Studio display, the display by default charges the laptop but always charges the battery to 100%. I have not found a way to have the studio display connected to the MacBook and not have the display charge the laptop.
