Finder not obeying sort order in MacOS Ventura (13.0.1)

My projects are heavily dependent on my quickly being able to find the last added or downloaded material in a very large set of folders. Since most of my material is visual, I default to gallery view and sort by Date Added, but after the last update to Ventura (13.0.1), Finder no longer obeys the checked sort order - it remains in alpha order, whether in groups or not. It doesn't matter which sort order I select - it remains alpha order. If I switch to list view, the sort order changes, but not to anything I recognize (apparently, whole files have had their 'date added' changed). What exactly can I do here to force Finder to sort like it used to?

iMac 24″, macOS 13.0

I hadn't even seen that 13.1 was available. I have auto update turned on, but perhaps it was waiting for this evening. Regardless, I've updated to 13.1, but that doesn't change the Finder behavior. It doesn't matter if Groups is turned on or off, it shows the majority of the items in this folder (including images, subfolders, PDFs, etc.) in alpha order only. This really creates a huge problem for my workflow. Looks like a nasty bug, from what I can see.

I can't say that I've seen this problem, but a fairly natural thing to try is to update to the current version, 13.1.
