Unable to delete a VPN connection

I am unable to delete a connection because the Delete button is disabled. This connection was created by a profile, which has been already deleted, but the connection stayed for some reason. Reinstalling that profile doesn't help: it creates a new connection with a " 2" suffix. Rebooting doesn't help.

I'm on macOS 12.6.2.

Hi Vyacheslav Karpukhin,

Thanks to your screenshot, we can confirm it appears you are looking in the correct area to remove the VPN configuration. Since it does not appear to be giving you the option to remove it as expected, we would recommend booting into safe mode and trying again. Safe mode will allow two things to happen:

  1. During boot, safe mode will run a scan on your disk and make repairs where it can
  2. Once booted, safe mode will disable certain processes that may be causing a conflict

You can get more information about how to boot into safe mode, why it can help us isolate and potentially resolve a variety of issues, and what to do with your findings there in the Apple Support article How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support.

Don't hesitate to respond back if you still need help after that.

Cheers!

Shut down or, if necessary, force a shutdown by holding down the Power button for 10 seconds or until it shuts down. Then boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
