How did you get the Apple tv 4k to display Dolby digital instead of Stereo?

Apple TV 4K second gen It is set directly to a Samsung TV with 8K high speed Hdmi cables and down through arc channel connected to a Marantz SR 7009. The problem that I have for example is if I start watching Tv I will have the stereo format shown on my marantz display, then I start Netflix and start a movie with Dolby Atmos, after the movie I ask Siri to change back to TV and the receiver still says Dolby Atmos when it should say stereo.

Apple tv suports only stereo pcm 2.0 Hello, i just bought the new apple tv 4k, ei connected to my tv and sound bar(sonos beam 2gen) and when i watch something on youtube it only supports stereo PCM and the same content play on the tv interface webos it show in the sonos app is dolby digital 5.1 and it s sound richer also, but in movies it support dolby atmos, what can i do to have dolby digital 5.1 on youtube?

Apple tv 4k 2nd gen with Denon avr-s970. I can’t get the Apple tv to play in Dolby surround . It defaults to 2.1 stereo. My Shield Tv and Fire Tv will play in Dolby surround without issue. All three have the same hdmi cable type and everything has current updates. When i check settings it says stereo. I can attempt to force Dolby but it still plays in stereo only? Sorry should be in hardware not app.

In order to output at the best compatible format it should be set to auto, but that also means it needs to be connected to eARC as it uses Dolby MAT and that needs more bandwidth. Otherwise, you will only get stereo unless you force it to Dolby 5.1 (Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format and turn on Change Format)
