Second Monitors not waking from sleep (since upgrading to Ventura 13.1)

Since upgrading software to Ventura 13.1 both my second Dell display monitors won't wake up from sleep. I need to restart the MacBook Pro to get them to work.

Prior to the upgrade they have been working perfectly for at least a year.

I see there are other old questions but I couldnt find any resolutions.

Would be great if any suggestions.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

I'm having the same issue. When I upgrade to Ventura 13.0, my external monitors wouldn't come back from a sleep unless I rebooted my machine. It was then fixed in 13.0.x. Now that I upgraded to 13.1, the issue is back.

When I visit Settings > Displays, and hold option key, and click "detect displays", nothing happens. Please fix!!!

Hello OzzieWoods,

To start off, please take a look at this support article that helps with the setup of external monitors on your Mac: Use one or more external displays with your Mac. Since the macOS version has changed, it would be helpful to review this information and make sure everything is configured as expected.

Additionally, check the following things:

    • Test a different monitor with your Mac.
    • Test those monitors on another computer.
    • Reseat the cabling between the Mac and monitor to make sure nothing is loose or damaged.
    • Test the behavior in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac.
    • Test it on a second user account as well: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.
    • Check with Dell to see if there is a firmware update available for your monitors.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue so we can look into this further with you. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
