SMS bubble color on MacOS Ventura

Is there any setting or override for the sms (green) bubble color on the messages app (specifically on MacOS Ventura)? I have tried accessibility options (reduce transparency, increase contrast, increase text size) and none of these settings creates a deep enough contrast in the green bubble with the white text of the message.

I have searched many forums and most of the articles are so out of date. I cannot be the only person out here with this issue - I have no known visual color deficiencies, but I'm getting so frustrated at how difficult it is to see my sms messages on my mac. Why isn't there an obvious way to change this?!?!
