Walkie Talkie setup

I have AW6 and my wife just got AW8 that hasn't been taken out of it's box yet but I'm trying to set up the Walkie Talkie operation on my AW6. When I try to add her from my contacts her info disappears too quickly for me to get it set up. Here's what I've been doing:

1) Open Walkie Talkie app on my AW6.

2) Scroll to her contact info and tap her name

3) It opens for a split second and then goes to the screen I see when I initially open the app.

Am I missing something? Thanks
