How to stop McAfee's notifications?

Recently,  I have been getting these notifications in the form of a little strip appearing on my computer for a few seconds in the very top corner of the desk top. It slides onto the desk top and has the Systems Setting icon in the beginning of the message that reads as follows:

Your gmail is hacked….someone is trying take $410.from your bank account….your computer has been hacked…Your iCloud is being hacked…etc.

After checking this website a suggestion of downloading and installing Malware bites would help stopping this annoying intrusion I installed Malware but it did not work.

I did not Click on the notice and it immediately disappeared.

The icon is meaningless. Evidently you loaded to a website asking if you would like it to send you Notifications, and agreed to have it send you Notifications. The correct response to such requests is "just say no."

Excerpted from Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community:

Beware spontaneously appearing, unsolicited popups demanding immediate action. Think before you click.

  • ...
  • The same goes for website Notifications — attention-getting banners that appear at the top right corner of your screen. Safari gives you a great degree of control over them: Customize website notifications in Safari on Mac. Most of those Notifications are simply annoying, but some are intended to frighten and deceive you into installing something nefarious.

Manage Safari Notifications by reading those links. There is no need to download anything just to manage annoying Notifications. Uninstall whatever it was you installed.
