Hue vs Luma curve breaks footage

I finally got a 10-bit video camera (GH6) and thought that would fix the Hue vs Luma curve issue where any adjustment results in grotesque banding or pixelation. But it still happens. I tried MOV 4k 422 and 420, all-intra and long-gop. I don't currently have means to record Prores or RAW... is that what I'd need to get clean hue vs luma adjustments? (yet more money sighhhh)

Fwiw all the other curves behave well, even on my old camera's 8-bit footage.

Did some more tests. I forgot it lets you record Prores on an external SSD. Hue vs Luma seems ok with Prores HQ + HLG color profile. V-log in Prores HQ still produces banding with Hue vs Luma, mostly in areas of the image that look grey scale. Interesting.

If you shoot in log, should you not apply a camera LUT before applying color grading effects like Hue vs Luma?
