Apple Gift Card use for buying products such as a new iPhone : in Switzerland

I want to save up to buy a new iPhone and thought that I could buy Apple Gift Card(s) when I get my Tips or earn some extra money.

I have heard there is a maximum amount of Gift Cards one can use to purchase products - in store in Switzerland and that is six cards; and,

The maximum amount on each card is 250,- CHF

Can someone confirm this please :)

And if I hang onto the physical card until I have enough, how long are the cards valid for?

Otherwise, I could buy the product through the online Apple Store and use the redeemed Gift Cards (obviously I redeem them before ordering) to pay for the iPhone.

Is all this at all possible?
