The HomeKit user workaround does not work

The workaround specified here: If you can't access a home or accept an invitation in the Home app - Apple Support does not work. I just went through it step by step with an Apple support agent on the phone, who confirmed it will not work for my Home environment and I just have to wait for a software update.

This means that...

-my partner can't control any of the speakers, TVs, cameras, lights or heating controls in our house

-we can't control the Apple TVs correctly

-Siri on HomePods now only recognises me and won't allow any personalised responses for my partner.

In many, many years of using Apple products I've never known such a massively botched release. This is a total mess and I really hope there is a comprehensive plan to fix what is a total pain in the proverbial.

It's exactly because of that. We both upgraded the OS versions on our phones, and all of the homekit devices are running the latest versions. Now, running 16.3. The problem persists. It's ridiculous. I also noticed that Apple TV no longer allows homepods in a stereo pair to be set as the default TV audio output after previously allowing this for several years. Why?! So infuriating.

After you installed tvOS 16.3 do check you’re still signed into HomeKit. The install signed me out. My HomePods weren’t working until I noticed that.

Otherwise to address this issue try signing out of iCloud in users accounts on ATV, Restart, then sign back in and set-up AirPlay & HomeKit again. Making sure you’ve selected the same rooms. It might help - please let us know if it does. Thanks.
