Screen time parental controls for 13 year old

We previously had setup parental controls for our son who was 12 and had no issues with managing. Once he turned 13 it appears that he can manually turn off parental controls whenever he wants without notice to us…is this correct? If yes, are there any options to override this or be notified when this happens? If no, are there settings or options that we are missing? With this happening it is obviously very difficult to manage his screen time without physically his phone away. Thank you.

Hello Theicon29,

While Apple IDs over the age of 13 (though this varies by country), the account is considered an adult account. However, Screen Time remains in effect until 18, at which point they can then disable it. So what we would recommend doing is updating your password for Screen Time and reconfirm settings listed at Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.
