How to turn off HBO Max close captions

Using Apple TV w/ TV OS 16.2. Can't turn off closed captions on HBO Max. "How to" guidance greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much...I tried pausing the video before but didn't realize it had to be paused for 3 seconds in order to bring up the subtitle tab and the menus options.
