Which scanner compatible with MacOs Ventura?

I am once again really upset with Ventura. As an illustrator, I've been using my scanner CanoScan Life 700f for years and I just discovered that it is not compatible with Ventura. My computer does recognise it but it doesn't want to open. When I try, I get an error message : Failed to open a connection to the device (21345).

Is there a solution (other than remove the scanner, restart computer,... which I have been doing?)? Or will I have to buy another one? If this is the case, which scanner is the best to buy to scan illustrations?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.1

Did you check for updates to the scanner software on Canon's website? Many now support Image Capture Architecture (ICA) and may require you install an updated ICA driver for their devices.

If it is no longer supported, you may be able to find new drivers for a similar scanner that will work.

VueScan supports that scanner. I don't know if the added capabilities are worth the price for you.

You could also try a fix for a previous issue. Open /Library/Image Capture/Devices/ and look for a file named for Canon or your device. Double-click to open it. Nothing will open, but that might clear any quarantine on the driver and allow it to run.

The concept of using a scanner "for years" and expecting Canon to continue supporting it with new drivers currently compatible with macOS is a huge leap of vendor expectation.

In 2010, Canon abandoned driver support for my flatbed scanner. In that same year, I purchased VueScan Professional for its ability to support that scanner without Canon drivers. I still use that scanner with the current release of VueScan Professional on macOS Ventura 13.1. I have never paid any upgrade fee for VueScan in 12 years.

What is your time worth? A one-time purchase of VueScan Professional supports your LiDE 700f and ends your Canon driver dependency once and for all.

I receive nothing in return from the VueScan vendor for their product mention here.
