Sandisk SSDs not being seen by MBAir but are seen by Mac Mini Studio

I purchased 2-512GB Sandisk Extreme portable SSD Drives. After upgrading to Ventura, the drives aren't being seen by the MB Air. They are seen by the Mac Mini. I reformatted both to ExFAT and still aren't being seen by MB Air. The first time I tried to plug them into the MBA, I got a pop-up that asked if I wanted to view the hardware or something. It made it seem that the computer recognized that I was plugging in an SSD. Yet, after I clicked yes, the drive didn't show up.

The drives don't show up in disk utility on MBA either. Yet, they do on Mac Mini. Each computer is updated to latest OS. I'm using same cables on both machines.

MBA isn't plugged into power. I'm using one of the 2 ports on front of Mac Mini

I found several items on web and youtube about issues with sandisk ssds and macs but nothing similar to the situation i have where they work on one machine but not the other.

Use APFS for Ventura:

ExFAT is for Windows. So, format these to APFS format in Disk Utility. Apple changed its file format options to APFS when macOS Catalina (10.15) was released.
