2020 se frozen after update, cannot hard restart, touchscreen inactive, any ideas? thanks

On what screen it is frozen?

Try the force restart again when carefully following these instructions

Press and quickly release the volume up button.
Press and quickly release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button.
When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

the "software update" pop up is superimposed over the enter password screen. touch screen has no response to anything, no entering passcode, not swiping to shut down, nothing

kept trying your force restart procedure and had to hold the side button for about 40 seconds and finally it shut down and I was able to restart. Thank u
