Every album I sync to my iphone shows as unknown album

Everything in my music library appears to be in order, that is, songs are showing up under an album. Every time I sync to my iPhone, regardless if these albums are part of a playlist or selected individually, the songs appear on my iPhone as "unknown album". This started happening a month or two ago with some albums, now it is happening on EVERY SINGLE ALBUM. I have removed Music from my iPhone and reinstalled, upgraded to the latest version of Ventura (13.1) and still it happens. What is the problem???

Hi cakasabian,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

With your music not syncing correctly, if you have covered the basics such as restarting iPhone and updating the latest iOS version, back up iPhone and restore to factory settings.

Once you have restored as new, this will help narrow down whether the issue is the iPhone or the Mac. Sync the music to the iPhone without adding the backup you previously created.

If this issue does not occur, this would indicate the issue was with software on your iPhone. It would be best to manually add your content back to your device without adding the backup.

If the issue with music continues, contact Apple Support to look into this matter further.

Yes, I sync my library, actually a playlist since my library is too large, with my iPhone 12 mini. I have a new M2 MacBook Pro running the latest version of Ventura, and my iPhone is up to date as well. My library, due to its size, is on an external drive. What I don't understand is why, if the albums are all categorized correctly in Music on my MacBook Pro, why are they being broken up by song showing "unknown album" on my iPhone after syncing?

Looks like you are having some trouble with albums not being categorized correctly after syncing with your iPhone. We are happy to help! Do you sync your library with Apple Music? If not, give that feature a try and see if the issue continues: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music.
