Text Messages randomly deleted Incl Photos

Hello. My text messages on my IPX randomly auto delete. I find this troublesome especially when they include photos that I have not “saved” to library yet.

I backup my IPX each and every night. Yes. My device is set to Auto Backup, but I prefer to do manually. My IPX is also updated to Software 16.1.2.

Thank You to anyone who can help me recover my data, without having to purchase an outside software program. I am very very technically challenged.

Troubleshooting Lost Photos:

Loss of data is something you would have agreed to upon opening an Apple Account. So, if the following does not work, then they are gone. That's just the way it is :(

Four Tactics to Try:

A. Start here: If you're Missing Photos or Videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

B. Check iCloud Directly:

See if they reside in iCloud Photos. Log in here: https://www.icloud.com/photos

C. Use a Time Machine Backup:

Did you backup your Mac, recently? If so, then restore your Mac from that. You'd backup you Mac prior to doing so, and then restore your data from the backup you just created, through use of Migration Assistant.

D. Where Else to Check:

  • PC
  • PDA
  • eMail
  • Mac Device
  • Cloud Storage
  • Android Phone
  • USB Flash Drive
  • External Hard drive
  • Secure Digital Card
  • Compact Flash Card

Hello and TY. I found out that there is an easy (for me at least because it worked THIS time) way to recover my recently automatically deleted text messages with photos - there were 49 entries.

There is a place in Messages that resolves this quite well.

Depending on the volume of recovered messages/photos, sometimes it takes a few seconds.

I wish I knew WHY my IPX auto deleted My Messages. My settings are set as keep FOREVER, as I manually delete as needed.

Another interesting mystery which I will not solve today.

Again, thank you and

Happy New Year!
