My new iPad has been stolen. How can I replace it?

My iPad was stolen from our rental car. How can I tell if I have AppleCare? What do I need to do to replace it?

Lost or Stolen iPad with Applecare+ … Apple support can’t help. I lost my iPad with keyboard & had applecare+ on the the device. And when i tried to make the claim Apple told me ipad don’t have theft or loss as an option which would has been very frustrating after spending over 1,000 with the device and accessories i got when purchasing this product.
