Macos disable the esc hotkey for exiting full screen

Is there any way I can manually disable the esc hotkey which exits the full screen mode on my macbook? It is really annoying because as this hotkey is automatically enabled it witholds me to use hotkeys in certain apps. For example I cant use the cancel function in Excel by pressing esc as this will exit full screen which is super annoying. I normally use the cancel function in excel like once every 10 seconds.

It appears you are wanting to suggest that Apple add the ability to change the function of certain keys.
