How can I remove this icon from my menu bar? I never use it:

You can't. It's the icon for the Control Centre. Someone at Apple thinks we all need it for some reason.

FWIW, I use the Control Center on a daily basis but, it can't be removed as previously mentioned.
As you cannot get rid of the Control Center, you may want to use it to move all items from the menu bar there that you never or only rarely use, to get them out of the way.
