Restrictions passcode

I have a new iPad and now need to reset old one to Factory settings. It keeps asking for the restrictions passcode which I dont have. No one else has ever had access and I dont know how this has come to be there but I need to reset the old iPad for peace of mind if nothing else. Can anyone help?

Hi cherylfrombelgrave,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you will need to reset your Screen Time passcode first. You can do that using the following guidance from If you forgot your Screen Time passcode.

"On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings > Screen Time.
  2. Tap Change Screen Time Passcode, then tap Change Screen Time Passcode again.
  3. Tap Forgot Passcode?
  4. Enter the Apple ID and password* that you used to set up the Screen Time passcode.
  5. Enter a new Screen Time passcode, then enter it again to confirm."

All the best.
