Communication limits during Downtime

Hello,

I have been using the parental controls with very little issues for the past while but ever since I updated my phone, my daughter and I cannot text each other even though I’m on her downtime contact list (and always have been). The odd thing is, we can message each other in the small group chat I have with her and her brother and I. That will work. But her and I cannot message directly. Anyone know how to fix?

Hello ArdentSpirit,

Let's start off by checking the helpful steps in this article which can help with this issue: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad. Follow this guidance:

"If you see a red exclamation point

If you try to send a message and you see  Exclamation mark icon with an alert that says Not Delivered, follow these steps:

      1. Check your network connection.
      2. Tap  Exclamation mark icon, then tap Try Again.
      3. If you still can’t send the message, tap  Exclamation mark icon, then tap Send as Text Message. Messaging rates may apply. Contact your carrier for more information.

You can set up Messages so that it automatically tries to send messages as an SMS when iMessage isn't available. Go to Settings > Messages, and turn on Send as SMS."

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue so we can look into this further with you. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
