Apple Watch not syncing subscriptions with Apple ID account

Hi there,

I am a youth user. My dad (the manager of the family sharing) shares subscriptions with us, including Apple Music. My iPad (my primary device, as I do not have a phone), is connected to the family sharing, and has all the subscriptions shared by my dad. However, my Apple Watch (which is tethered to the exact same Apple ID), says I have no subscriptions. My Apple Music tells me a family member can setup a family plan (which we already have), and settings displays that I have no subscriptions under the subscriptions tab within my Apple ID. I have researched, but nothing I have found pertains to my issue.

I’ve restarted, shut down, and updated my Apple Watch multiple times. Nothing changes. My iPad’s Apple Music continues to work perfectly, but my Apple Watch says I don’t have a subscription.

Also, my sister, who has the exact same everything, isn’t having the same issue.

If someone could get back to me with how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it, as I want to listen to music on my new AirPods using my watch.

Ray_Plays,

We suggest having your Dad check the settings to be sure you're signed in to your Apple ID account and review the Music settings for your Apple Watch:

  1. "Open the Apple Watch app on the iPhone that you used to set up the watch.
  2. Tap All Watches, tap the watch under Family Watches, then tap Done.
  3. Choose a setting to adjust."

-Set up Apple Watch for a family member

If the behavior continues, contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Cheers!

Hi Ray_Plays,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to access your family Apple Music subscription on your Apple Watch.

Was your Apple Watch set up using another family members iPhone? If so, is Apple Music set up on the companion iPhone? This article will show you how to check: Set up Apple Watch for a family member

You can also learn how to listen to the Music app on your Apple Watch as outlined here: Play music on a managed Apple Watch

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

Thanks for the fast response Miche11e_P!

My Apple Watch was set up by my dad. However, Apple Music works fine on his phone, and (as detailed in my previous post) on my iPad, which has the same Apple ID as my watch.

I understand how Apple Music works on my watch, it’s that my watch tells me I don’t a subscription, and that “A subscription is required. Your family organizer can sign up for an Apple Music Family plan.”

Thank you for the response, and I hope this can help you help me. :)
