Your macOS is far too old for Google Drive. See their system requirements here:

noting that the current version requires at least macOS 10.14 "Mojave", and that support for Mojave will end next month. After that your must have macOS10.15 "Catalina" or higher.

You have not said which Mac this is or its sub-model, the data that lets us tell you the highest macOD you can run. You must have a 2012 or newer Mac to run Catalina 10.15. Your model and important SUB-MODEL are quickly available by doing "About this Mac..." from your Apple menu. This is for macOS 10.9:

In the image, "27-inch, Mid 2010" is the important SUB-MODEL. If you el use what Mac you have and its sub-model, we can:

  • better advise you on an upgrade path if any
  • get you moved to a more active forum section that gets more views and is more appropriate to your issue.

NOTE: Any modifiers in the sub-model, like Early, Mid, or Late, can be critical to proper computer identification here.

If your Mac cannot be upgraded that far, you need to find a solution other than Google Drive or buy a newer computer. iCloud Drive requires a minimum of macOS 10.10 "Yosemite" and that OS does not support iCloud Drive folder sharing.
