Skip forward in quicktime does not work anymore after Ventura 13.1 update

While playing a video in Quicktime I used to be able to skip forward with two fingers, now after the Ventura latest update, it doesn't work anymore. Have you had the same issue? Any idea how to repair this?

Hello Rrincon3000,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities.

In macOS Ventura, using two fingers to skip forward is an option. Therefore, we'd like to provide you with a few steps that may be able to help resolve the issue:

1. Restart your Mac. Completing this step allows your Mac and the software to be refreshed:

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart

2. Verify if the issue persists in safe mode. This is a great way to test if the software that loads as your Mac starts up should be causing this to occur. Your screen may flash or load slowly. However, this is expected behavior: How to use safe mode on your Mac

We hope this helps.

Take care.

Thank you for these suggestions but unfortunately nothing fixed the issue. I ended up re-installing Ventura last night only to find that the issue STILL continues! I never had that issue before until Ventura was installed in my MacStudio. On the other hand, my laptop is still running High Sierra and there is no issue in there. This makes me think this is a problem in Ventura. I would appreciate if you could escalate this issue as this is a feature that I use on a daily basis. Thank you so much.

There is no solution I’ve come across yet…Apple is completely incompetent and worthless. In random circumstances I’m able to sketchily skip forward with two fingers but only if the video is paused first, which is absolutely pointless. I’m looking at comparable alternative programs to QuickTime due to this failure from Apple. “If it’s not broke, let’s break it” is apparently Apples modo.

UPDATE: No solution yet! I was on the phone for hours with Apple Support, they asked me to create a Guest account and login using that account to see if the problem continued... the problem continued! So they set up a call with a specialist... I shortly received the call and he was there on the phone trying different things... finally he tried on his own computer to reproduce the error but it did not happened to him! So the solution he suggested was to wipe-out my system and fully re-install Ventura from zero "to see" if that fixes the problem.

My system is a new Mac Studio, not even 6 months old and it was working perfectly until the Ventura update! I don't think I should be forced to wipe-out the system and spend a couple of days figuring this out plus re-setting the system just "to see" if this fixes the problem.

Friken pain in the neck!

I upgraded to Ventura 13.2 and still the problem persists.

Any suggestions anyone?
