Notifications from the Ring app not arriving on my iPhone 14 phone

I recently purchased the Ring stick up camera and followed the step-by-step guide as well as chose the settings that I wanted. However, notifications just don’t arrive to my iPhone 14.

To troubleshoot, I did the following:

  • Verified my iPhone’s general Ring app settings to confirm that the notifications are enabled.
  • Switched off my iPhone, waited for 1 minute and switched it back on.
  • Chatted with the Ring support team who confirmed that my camera device was working perfectly and nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary.
  • I called the CS Support team to receive troubleshooting support regarding the in-app features and they confirmed that everything was fine. However, notifications won’t arrive if my Bluetooth is on. This part I didn’t get and sought to obtain more information but I was informed that that’s just how the software is currently built. Changing it would require me to send my feedback via email (which I did after the call) so it can be passed on to the Product team.

Essentially, I have a new camera that doesn’t notify me about any motion activity and, thus, has become useless.

I was made aware that it’s related to the notification settings but yet informed that the settings were well set.

Having the Bluetooth enabled apparently prevents me from obtaining notifications but I need it in my day to day so my iPhone is connected to my Apple Watch and AirPods.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue ? If so, how have you resolved it because this has quickly become a frustrating situation and I feel stuck at the moment.

Hi ayoubn,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you've tried some thorough troubleshooting so far. Since it sounds like Bluetooth only impacts this specific app's notifications, check your privacy settings to see if the Ring app has permission there. As mentioned in If an app would like to use Bluetooth on your device, you'll find that from Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth.

Next, since you mentioned that you also use an Apple Watch, try disabling Ring app notifications for your Apple Watch temporarily. Perhaps that will force them to the iPhone if for some reason they are going to the Apple Watch only. Guidance below is part of Change notification settings on Apple Watch

"Choose how apps send notifications

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap My Watch, then tap Notifications.
  3. Tap the app (for example, Messages), tap Custom, then choose an option. Options may include:
    • Allow Notifications: The app displays notifications in Notification Center.
    • Send to Notification Center: Notifications are sent directly to Notification Center without your Apple Watch making a sound or displaying the notification.
    • Notifications Off: The app sends no notifications."

If the same continues, this might need further attention. Reach out to Apple Support for a closer look.

Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I followed the steps that you’ve proposed and unfortunately they didn’t help.

The Ring app doesn’t show up on the list of apps requesting Bluetooth access.

As for the Apple Watch, the Ring app hasn’t been installed on the Apple Watch so at this stage the only option I can manage for the notifications is to go through the notifications settings and either enable or disable them for the Ring app. After disabling, I’m still not getting notifications on my phone.

Sounds like I need to contact Apple Support.

Thanks,

Ayoub
