Cannot download anything using Safari browser

Hi all,

Safari had been working fine until I tried to download some files today and it just would not budge. Whenever I tried downloading anything, it would simply not happen. When I try to view the downloads, in the downloads panel, on the browser it would say the download had been stopped. A file representing the download would appear in the downloads folder, the file extension of which was ".download". Some files also came up in the downloads panel with the accompanying message "The operation couldn't be completed. (WebKitResource error 1.)". I have been using Safari for a good while now and its been sturdy and reliable for the most part, I have never came across something like this. I have tested downloads on multiple different files and sites, where I know the process has went smoothly before but nothing seems to work.

Anyone have

MacBook Pro
