Forcing AirTag Firmware Update

Is there any way to do so? Mine have 1.0.301, and there is no way to know when, or if, they'll be updated to 2.0.36, the latest version.

What's the deal? How long will I have to wait for an update? The AirTags are paired with my iPhone (iOS 16.2), and are sitting right next to it...

From MacRumors:

”It is not possible to force an AirTag update, as it's something that's done over-the-air through a connected iPhone. To make sure the update happens, you can put your AirTag in range of your ‌‌iPhone‌‌, but you have to wait for the firmware to roll out to your device.”

So this could happen in the next five minutes, hours, days, weeks, months?? This is absurd. The AirTags have been in Bluetooth range of my iPhone since the new firmware was announced on the 16th.

Thanks for the referral to MacRumors…sounds like the new firmware is a rumor until the Tags get updated
